Grocery Savings:Find Extra Cash

I've decided to trim the grocery budget again. Why? Well because I've been a bit LAZY this summer and bought a few too many snacks and convenience foods....and we've ordered pizza too much (about once a week recently!) Bad bad bad...ugh! Well....not exactly bad.....but not exactly frugal either...hmmm. To help motivate me I always like to figure out what I'm spending on things.... it never seems like much at the time .....but when I sit down with paper, notebook and calculator to crunch the numbers.....sometimes I'm shocked! Like with order out pizza...if we continue to do this each week it will cost us $1560 a year!!! Oh my!!! (Just take the cost of your item and multiply by 52 (weeks in a year) to get your yearly total. So for your enjoyment and mine I will list some of our regular items that I plan to cut out of the budget to see what I could potentially save by this time next year!! I say potentially because being forever the realist....I know there will be times I DO order pizza out.....but once I crunch the numbers.....it will be easier to say NOPE!!! Some items I plan to just stop buying ....I may find some make your own recipes or just reduce usage (do I really need chai latte tea each night before bed....some nights I might arguably scream YES I DO- either that or pull my hair out-haha!!)....other items like snacks or cereal I will cut down.....say if I typically buy 3 bags a week, I'll just try to limit it to two bags each week.
Item~ Cost per Week~ Yearly Cost (52 weeks)
Pizza (order out)~ $30~ $ 1560
Chia Latte Tea Mix (2 per week)~ $7.98 (3.99 each)~ $415
1 bag snack (like chips) ~ $3.99~ $207
Capri Sun (3boxes per week)~ $8.97 (2.99 each)~ $466
1 boxed cereal~ $3.99~ $207
1 Box Granola Bars~ $3.99~ $207

Grand total savings if I cut these items out each week is...gasp....applaud...freak out a bit maybe..... $3,062!!!! WOW and that's only a few items I scribbled down off the top of my head! See that's motivation for me......$3062 bucks is nothing to sneeze at around our home. These are all things I don't really "need" to be getting anyway! Even just switching to a brand that costs less can add up to great savings too. So if you have things you know right now that you could just stop buying....I encourage you to crunch the numbers and see how much money it will save you !!

Plink Plink!!! - that's the sound of some serious change savings!!! LOL!! When my kids get back to school this year, I am seriously going to overhall my weekly menu plan and move to more simple foods, plus eliminate more if I can. Good luck with yours too!!!
