145th anniversary !!!

Today, November 19th, is the 145th anniversary of one of the greatest speeches in American history: "The Gettysburg Address" given by Abraham Lincoln in 1863. This speech holds extra special meaning to me as a very smart teacher of mine YEARS ago used to have his students write this speech out for punishments in his class. Ask me just how I know this ;) I had to write this speech out 20 times for a punishment once!!! I didn't appreciate it's significance then....but I do now, it was much better for me than some 20 min detention...penmanship practice AND learning this great speech! I used to know it by heart, but 20 some odd years later, I don't. Way to go Abe and Happy 200th Birthday in February!!
