I needed a small mending box to keep out on my end table in the family room. I like to mend when I'm watching TV at night. Things I mend? Well not too much....socks, small holes in pants, ripped seams, loose buttons...that sort of thing. I basically just try to make our clothes hold out as long as possible . I have this little wood box that a friend made for me long ago. It was in the go to Goodwill box. I was at first going to just store some sewing things in a small basket....but then I soon discovered that it was a major temptation for my kitten, Trouble. Spools of thread and little whatnot's are just too tempting for her and frustrating for me to keep picking up! So I remembered the box. It would be perfect....I'm so glad I didn't pass it along just yet! I forgot to take a before picture, duh. It had some red velvet paper glued to the bottom. I decided to take some favorite fabric of mine and do it over. I just cut pieces to fit and hot glued them to the inner top and bottom. This was very easy! On the top...before I glued the last seam shut, I just stuffed some cotton balls up in there to give it some "puff" to stick pins in. It all worked out very nice....not perfect...but very homey! My regular sewing box is just too big (and ugly- it was my Mom's and no offense to her...it's very old and a funky green color....but hey, it still works-so I won't replace it yet, you know the old if it ain't broke don't fix it deal!!) So now I have something cute and pretty to just keep out handy when I need it.
P.S.
Do people even use p.s. on blogs? LOL! Between the misty rain showers we had over the past two days I was able to finish planting things around the house. I snapped a few pictures and will put some posts together soon. May God bless the little garden and help it to grow up big and strong!

That turned out really well :) you did a nice job! That was clever to put cotton balls in there to stick your pins in!
