I had a Mommy Time Out today!!!
It's not a BAD thing! It's a GOOD thing! I tend to get so wrapped up in caring for everyone else that I forget to care for myself sometimes!! This was my first break since we started summer! Boy was I overdue!! I take a Mommy time out when I start to feel tired and worn out. A short fuse is a CLEAR sign to me that I needed a break today! There is NOTHING wrong or selfish at all about getting out for a bit.....in fact I always come back refreshed and ready to go for the next 10 rounds! Four kids and a busy hectic schedule sometimes get the better of me.....I most definitely feel I got blessed with four to help grow and stretch me in the areas of anger management, patience, growing a meek and quiet spirit....and servanthood. I took the afternoon out (all by myself, 3 whole hours of bliss) while the kids got to spend some quality time home with Dad. I just needed some quiet time. So I stopped by my local Goodwill store. It was 1/2 price day so it wasn't exactly quiet there but I had a FUN time! It's funny I found a few kid video's that I had been looking at on Ebay for 50 cents each! WOOHOO! WAY less than I would have had to pay on Ebay. They were various Christian kid videos....I feel blessed to have found them at such a great price (I found a few Nest videos, 2 moody science one's, and 3 Greatest Bible Adventures) . So if you need a break go out and grab you some cuz it's rare that it will just fall into your lap....be proactive about taking care of yourself so you can better care for those around you !!!

Amen and AMEN sister!
It disturbs me that there is this faction of Christian ladies who say that it is an act of selfishness to separate from your husband and children for even a minute, or that it is sinful to look to outside sources for refreshment...that your bible, your family, and your own four walls are all you EVER need. Period.
Of course, some of the ladies I know personally who think this way are also very unhappy.
I belong to MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) and we meet twice a month for fellowship, food, and fun while our kids are looked after just across the hall, plus I go to MOPS leadership meetings once a month. It has been my saving grace in keeping proper persepective on things at home and makes me a happier wife and mommy. Have you ever checked out MOPS (not sure if you have preschoolers).
I lOVE MOPS!!! My guys are a bit older now...13, 10, 10, and 9. I've been to a few meetings over the years and think they are a wonderful ministry to Moms! Fellowship with other Mom's is SO important and can be a source of strength and support! Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. We have SO much valuable information to offer each other during our walk as parents!!
Good for you! We have to take care of ourselves so we can take care of our families. I'm glad you found a fun way to spend a few hours...bargain hunting is my kind of fun too! : )
You write very well.
