Constitution Day!!!

Happy Constitution Day!!!

Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. This day also happens to be a great day for me personally....my anniversary!!!! WOOT!!! 14 Years!!! I love you honey!! Here's to many many more!!! Lets hope we can say the same for our constitution!!!
It is important, to me, to teach my children about our nation's Constitution and how it affects our lives....to study our government and our Christian heritage. Many Americans do not realize the extent of Christian influence on our nation's founding, especially since it has been "written out" of most public school textbooks. The First Amendment to the Constitution does not include the phrase "separation of church and state." Nowhere does it suggest that Christianity cannot be heard in the public square!! Our founding fathers did not include the First Amendment in the Constitution to disallow Christianity from influencing state-established institutions...our founding fathers expected our nation to be (on the whole) Christian, and our government to reflect that. Take a look at history, you can't avoid the conclusion that America was founded on Christian principles and the assumption that her citizens would follow those same principles..unfortunately, the modern interpretation of the First Amendment ignores historical fact. Instead, it provides a convenient vehicle for secular humanism to achieve control over the public square..plain and simple.

This is a fun book to read with your children or for yourself too....it's called America's God and Country:Encyclopedia of Quotes. "864 Pages of quotes highlighting America's noble heritage...."something the kids won't get much of in their public school government classes but something you can easily provide at home... read online free here ....another good book that I have NOT read through entirely yet is this book Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States read online free here I would open the PDF but it takes a while to do as it's 800 plus pages
If you homeschool or just want to suppliment your public schoolers education....here's a few good links...

The Biblical Basis of Government
1. God is the ultimate authority over all His creation. "The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all." (Psalm 22:28)
2. God establishes governments. "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves" (Romans 13:1). The only instance in which we are allowed to disobey the government is when it tells us to do something the Bible forbids...pretty simple, eh?
Titus 3:1-2 (NIV) Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility towards all men.
1 Peter 2:17 (NIV) Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honour the king.
3. Human government is to punish evil and reward good. "Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right." (I Peter 2:13)
4. God can use even evil rulers to accomplish His purposes. "The Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, And bestows it on whom He wishes And sets over it the lowliest (basest-KJV-morally low, dishonorable; meanspirited; selfish; cowardly.) of men." (Daniel 4:17)
5. God influences the thoughts of kings. "The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes." (Proverbs 21:1)
6. God can remove and replace rulers at any time. "He removes kings and establishes kings." (Daniel 2:21)
7. The ideal government supports righteousness, justice, and peace. "First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. "This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (I Timothy 2:1-4)
The primary method of effecting political change is through "supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings" for "kings and all that are in high places." It is ultimately God who can "remove kings and establish kings" (Daniel 2:21) and influence their actions: "The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes." (Proverbs 21:1) Our political action is in vain if we do not recognize God's sovereignty in the affairs of men and call upon Him to help us and our nation. Pray for officials by name, for their salvation, wisdom, and integrity. Pray for our President and his Cabinet, your governor and mayor, your representatives in national, state, and local government..Pray for the election of our next President, pray that he will be a man that will honor and follow the Lord and lead this nation in His way. Pray that God's will be done regarding specific issues that face our nation at this time.. to find your state representatives, local officials, and election results Check out here http://capwiz.com/hslda/home/ or here http://www.house.gov/htbin/wrep_findrep
"If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).

What's left?? VOTE!!! It is a privilege and a responsibility of every citizen to participate in our government on all levels and to take part in the direction our nation is going. Christians can impact our society and nation if we all make a concerted effort to cast informed votes guided by biblical truths. As your representatives.... elected officials need to hear from you and know how you wish to be represented on an issue.Visit your representatives!! Lobby by letter or by phone, fax, or e-mail. Attend state or local open meetings or hearings on issues of interest to you. Show support and thanks when an official has made a right decision, especially if it has taken courage to act contrary to strong opposition.Contribute money, time, or supplies to organizations that are seeking to effect change in important areas. So....
HAPPY CONSTITUTION DAY!!!!
