PB and J Bars
Peanut butter and Jelly. I have really loved this combo since I was a kid. I had a few items that needed used up.....a large jar of grape jelly and a bag of peanut butter chips left from Christmas that never made it into fudge! I found the above recipe book at the library and sure enough....my large jar of jelly WILL be gone in a few meals. Shhh.....don't tell the Welch's people that I used Smuckers Today I went for the bars! But there are tons other great goodies recipes and even some main course items like sweet and sour meatballs and BBQ sauce.
Here's the recipe:
Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup butter
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup grape jelly
1 10oz pack peanut butter chips (I only used 1/2 the bag and it was enough!)
Preheat oven to 375. Mix flour sugar and baking powder, cut in butter till mix resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in beaten egg till blended. Press half the mixture into bottom of greased 9 inch square pan. Stir jelly then spread over mixture in pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 of the peanut butter chips. Mix the rest of chip with the remaining crumb mix and sprinkle over top jelly. Bake 25-30 mins or until lightly brown. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack...cut into bars! Eat with ice cold milk!!! I'm thinking you could try this with strawberry jam and white chocolate chips too.
Gather ingredients- note I added about 1/4 cup wheat germ into the mix because I can and it's good for you and you'll never notice it in there!!
Mix it all up!
Spread 1/2 in pan...top with jelly then 1/2 peanut butter chips.
Top with remaining crumb mixed with the rest of chips...bake 25-30 mins x 375.
Cool...cut...and ENJOY!!
