Grandpa and 4 Year Old Granddaughter, on Morning Chores, to Feed Pigs on Nearby Lot

Dear Grandpa Bud,
I thought of you alot today as I planted lettuce seeds in my new spring garden. I miss you. You were taken from us far too young by cancer. I wasn't even a teenager yet. I have so very many fond memories of you...especially of you working in your garden over the summers we visited. I remember how tan and lean you were....your beautiful straight teeth so stark white against your tan skin. I still see your smile and hear your laugh. You showed us how to plant and pick and weed. Then you shared the goodness with us, right out of the garden....I remember you having my "young legs" run back to the house for you to grab the salt shaker. Boy they weren't kidding how good fresh picked is!! I always think of you fondly each spring when I plant things. I have often wondered over the years how you would have influenced me while growing up had you gotten to remain here longer, but then I remember you DID influence me and it lasted clean through youth on into my adulthood. And it will continue on as I age when I get the chance to be a great Grandparent, just as you modeled to me all those years ago. I remember one time leaving after some visit and I said goodbye to you. You then said, "Don't say goodbye....say I'll see you later!" So Gramps...I'll see you later!!
Love,
