Quick Rustic Apple Tart

I had six apples that somehow got lost in the bin that were very soft. So I thawed out one of my pre prepped pie shells and made a quick tart type dish to go with supper. Six apples were too much for the shell to hold so I just cooked down the rest on the stove and added water to make a small jar of apple pie filling/topping. I will use this later this week to make some stuffed french toast topped with warm apple topping. I'll show you that one later....it's a real treat!

Quick Tart
3-4 Apples peeled cored and sliced
2 Tablespoons cornstarch or 3 flour
1/2 cup sugar more or less depending on if your apples are tart or sweet
1 Tablespoon cinnamon (I like MORE!)
1 pie shell

In a large bowl mix apple slices, cornstarch, sugar and cinnamon. Spread pie shell on baking sheet. Dump apples into center of shell. Fold edges up to form a rim. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 mins. till apples are soft. You may need to drape with foil half way through to keep edges from browning too deep. This does not end up really saucy like an apple pie (probably because there's no lid to hold the moisture in) so we like to drizzle with some caramel sauce....so good!

Enjoy!
