Organization Post
Ok. I confess......this project has been calling to me for a while now. I just had to make a decision on what to do. It's my Tupperware cupboard. You got one? Do you hate it as much as I did mine? Is it a dirty little secret that you just close the door on...heehee.... This has come to my attention over the past year as we have trained the children to now load and put away the dishwasher. Don't get me wrong.....they do an awesome job... thank you my little helpers!! But the Tupperware area is just always a mess. Miss matched stacks of all different containers that I've amassed over the years. AMASSED is not too strong a word here.... I have way more than one family should ever own.....what's wrong with me anyway?!? Some of them no longer have lids.....so why do I keep them? Breath deep here....it's really ok to let things go, isn't it?! Some of them are so stained that I don't use them yet I'll still throw them back in there toward the reject stack that lives in the back....way in the back where it's really, really dark- heck I think they must secretly be back there multiplying...yes that's got to be it...couldn't be me!!! :) Every thing does fit if you stack things just so and know "my" system for it. The kids just don't see the way my brain works on this and neither does dear Dad, sorry guys. We all hate the cupboard! So today I made the decision. Out it all goes. What is good is going to Goodwill to bless another family. The dead items get a proper burial :) The only items I am keeping is some larger containers that I use only a few times a year to store cookies and other goodies in. The rest is being replaced with Glad (or whatever brand I finally decide on) storage plastic containers. I have a few of these and they are pretty nice AND inexpensive. They stack neatly and I promise myself to just throw them out when they get too stained or beyond any real use. Lids and bases will always match....this will simplify things so much that I'm almost giddy over it!! I cook differently now than I did years ago and honestly try to use most my leftovers so I don't need a hundred different things to store in anymore! Neat ....calming.....soothing.....and it won't cost an arm and leg or my firstborn child......this was sort of my little gift to myself and my helpers....I have reclaimed the TIME we lost to this area....I wonder where else we waste time (and lose peace) around the house....HAHA I don't wonder, I already know and may address those areas later :) I am being led to simplify in a lot of different areas in my life.....this is a good thing ;)

Hey Moxie, I am going through the SAME thing here. The General got me a nice set about a year ago (susposed to be dishwasher/microwave/freezer safe and they are all pitted and half melted. Very disappointing. And, it was just too many. I am using most of them to store other things (like small tools, glue, craft stuff etc) and just keeping a few for food. I am trying to store leftovers differently too. Let us know what you do.
Many Blessings :)

I'm now wondering if I should move towards glass containers but I am unsure....they won't stain or pit or melt but may break... and then there's the whole plastic in the microwave deal....for now I'll use the Glad one's I already have (a small stack from lunch meats I sometimes buy)....I'll shop around before anything is final. Take care Ace :)
Hey Moxie, I DO use recycled glass jars for tons of stuff. They are pretty sturdy and clean easily and many tops fit. I am reheating on plates because of the whole melting plastic thing myself. I have to post on this too. Take pictures when you are done. I am a sucker for before and afters.
Many Blessings :)
